Paint The Town Saffron With the Magical Powers of The Golden Spice
Can you even imagine a world without
colors? Colors add life to the world. They make it possible for the
changing seasons to have a distinct identity. Colors render a meaning
for our cravings for the Spring season. They give us hope, optimism
and joy. That’s the reason perhaps we so fondly believe in the
phrase “ There is always silver lining to a dark and stormy cloud”
Various colors have different meanings
associated with them. Every color endorses an emotion. Some represent
love and joy while others represent spirituality,divinity and so on.
The color 'Saffron' has lot of traditions and mythological stories
associated with it. In India , it is affiliated with the 'Hindu'
religion.
Saffron is considered the King of
spices as well as the golden spice and has been attributed the
highest status amidst all the spices. Although it is expensive, there
was time when Saffron was in proliferation in India. Eventually with
the production of other grains the production of Saffron was limited.
However, the use of Saffron in religious practices in India is still
quite popular. No religious festival or ceremony is completed without
the inclusion of Saffron. One such Saffron recipe that is definitely
going to uplift your spirit is ‘The Saffron Kulfi or Indian Saffron
Ice -cream’. This recipe is the native of the land of royals,
Rajasthan in India. It is traditionally made from Saffron, Pistachios
and milk.
Let's see how to make this
mouth-watering Indian Saffron Ice-cream or Saffron Kulfi dish
Saffron Kulfi or Indian Saffron Ice -cream
4 cups of Milk
1/4 cup of warm milk
1/2 tsp of Saffron threads
1/4 chopped pistachios
1 tablespoon of rice flour
1 tablespoon of almond powder
1 cup of cream
Method:
Begin by reducing the 4 cups of milk to
half its quantity over a medium flame. Then in a separate pan pour in
the 1/4 cup of warm milk and slide in 1/2 tsp of Saffron threads to
it.
Now to the reduced milk, add 1 cup of
cream and bring it to a boil. To this mixture add Saffron milk ,
almond powder , pistachios, rice powder. Mix it properly and heat it
on for 10 minutes over a medium flame.
Carefully transfer it in stainless
steel molds and refrigerate it for 6 hours. Your Indian Saffron
Ice-cream is ready to eat. You can garnish it with Cardamom powder .
